Ashalim Children’s Village

Ashalim Children’s Village is located in the heart of Beersheva and is home to 65 children ages 6 - 12 from Beersheva and the surrounding area. Established in the early 1980’s, Ashalim is home to children who suffer from problems with emotional and/or behavioral development and who have been referred to Ashalim by social welfare agencies.

At Ashalim, the children live in children’s houses or group homes. Each house and group home is run by specially trained counselors who care for the daily needs of the children. There are two full-time psychologists on staff but the children also receive many different types of therapies depending on their individual needs. There is a special education school on the Village campus as well, as many of the children at Ashalim require special education classes.

Ashalim is headed by Yossi Tiram. Yossi worked as a counselor and then as the Head of Formal Education at Yemin Orde from 1997 - 2004, and has continued to be mentored by Chaim Peri since he took over Ashalim. Yossi is slowly introducing elements of the Yemin Orde philosophy and methodologies into Ashalim beginning with the establishment of a graduate program for the Village.
