Talpiot Children’s Village
Talpiot Children’s Village is located in the city of Hadera in central Israel. Established as a home for young immigrant children, Talpiot is now a center for the education, counseling and treatment of hundreds of "children-at-risk" from greater Hadera and Israel at large.
In partnership with Yemin Orde, Talpiot offers an innovative multi-faceted program combining residential, foster and community-based programs, in addition to providing quality education for children ages 5 to 15.
The majority of Talpiot’s children are from Ethiopia, FSU and Israel. The campus includes an academic junior high school, which combines preparatory classes for new immigrants with regular classes that follow the standard Israeli curriculum.
Talpiot also houses four foster-family units. Twelve children,
all of whom suffer from serious emotional problems and dysfunctional family backgrounds, live in each unit with specially trained foster-families. This is a very successful approach for many children, and Talpiot plans to establish housing for four more foster families.
Talpiot, Yemin Orde and the City of Hadera have established a new after-school program in the Village for children ages 5 to 8 from local immigrant families. This program runs from 1:00 to 7:00 pm every day and the children receive two hot meals, therapeutic and enrichment programs and sports and social activities.
As part of its extensive strategy of early intervention and involvement in the local community, Talpiot also works extensively in Hadera to support the children’s families and strengthen their parenting skills and abilities.
