Rejuvenating Youth Villages: The Neveh Amiel Project
Based on previous successful intervention in other youth Villages such as Talpiot Children’s Village in Hadera and Kedma Youth Village in the Negev, the Yemin Orde Initiatives will focus on intensive intervention in selected villages to effect significant transformation of the village. The Initiatives will focus on one village at a time for a period of three years. Villages will be selected according to strict criteria.
The first village to be selected is Neveh Amiel Youth Village about 20 minutes from Yemin Orde. It is currently operating at one-quarter capacity and has turned to Yemin Orde for help. The Yemin Orde Initiatives has already developed a detailed plan for transforming Neveh Amiel over the next three years. Much of the work will focus on the training of staff in the Yemin Orde methodologies and the introduction of many of Yemin Orde’s core programs as well as facility and landscaping upgrades.
It is planned that within three years, Neveh Amiel will have increased its population from 48 to 200. It will be serving the most needy and most appropriate populations in residential, group foster homes, and community care settings. It will be providing programs of excellence to hundreds of children from the surrounding areas, and will have become a beacon for other youth villages to partner with the Initiatives.
In support of the Neveh Amiel Project the Marcus Foundation has issued a $1.5 million Challenge Grant through which the Marcus Foundation will match any gift to the Neveh Amiel Project dollar for dollar.
