Learning Center

Yemin Orde's Learning Center helps students with learning problems, learning disabilities and knowledge gaps. Most children arrive at Yemin Orde not knowing Hebrew and spend the first months studying Hebrew in the Village’s Learning Center. Many children arrive behind their age level academically. The Center provides these children with individual specialized programs designed to suit their needs, thereby enabling each child to fully participate in their class work and achieve their academic potential. Intensive study sessions are provided prior to the seniors’ final examinations enabling as many children as possible to succeed in their matriculation examinations.

Computer Literacy Program

The overall goal of the Computer Literacy Program is to provide training in essential computer skills that students need in order to be competitive in university, the army and job placements. Students are taught basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, and how to use the internet and email. More advanced classes are offered in multimedia programs, website design and the opportunity to obtain credits and certification from institutes of higher learning. The Computer Center works closely with the Learning Center providing academic learning opportunities through the use computers.

Carolyn Wasserman Science Center

November 25, 2006, marked the opening of the new Carolyn Wasserman Science Center at Yemin Orde. The center, with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, has now become a prime training ground in biology, chemistry and physics for all 500 students at Yemin Orde. The goal of the program is to promote the study of science subjects at the Village by helping as many students as possible to advance to a higher level study track in math and science; and to implement a curriculum that will expose science subjects to all the children at the Village.

The new facility enables the children to learn science through hands-on experience. The building is comporsed of two classrooms, a fully-equipped laboratory, and a teachers conference room. In addition to standard science classes, children will also have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities such as robotiks and programs with the Technion in Haifa.
