What is the mission of Friends of Yemin Orde?
Friends of Yemin Orde is the U.S. fundraising arm of Yemin Orde Youth Village and Village Way Educational Initiatives, both located in Israel. Its national office is located in Bethesda, MD., which is just outside Washington, D.C.
There are many ways to donate to Friends of Yemin Orde. You can make safely make a credit card or PayPal donation at our secure website, mail a check, make a wire transfer, donate gifts of stocks or securities, corporate gift matching and more. How much of my donation goes to the Village?
Friends of Yemin Orde has received Charity Navigator’s highest Four Star Rating for excellence in fiscal management for 10 years. Ninety cents of every dollar goes to programs at Yemin Orde Youth Village and our Village Way educational community partners. We allocate 59% of funds raised to the Village; 31% to the Educational Initiatives. Click here for more financial details.

Will I receive a tax receipt after my donation is made online?
Yes, all online donations will receive an automatic gift acknowledgement that can be used as a tax receipt. You will also receive an email confirmation of your gift.

Yemin Orde Youth Village
Who are the children at Yemin Orde Youth Village?
The youth at Yemin Orde are, for the most part, between 15 and 19 years of age. They are from Ethiopia, the Former Soviet Union, France, Brazil, Eastern Europe and Israel-born. In years past, the Village’s population included children from India, Iran, Sudan, China, England, Yemen, Tibet and more. Most of the youth at the Village have suffered trauma and they arrive at Yemin Orde angry, frustrated, under-educated and with little or no hope for a productive future in Israel. Ten percent of the Village’s immigrant youth are orphans; many arrived alone without close friends or other family in Israel.
Where is Yemin Orde Youth Village located?
The Village is located in the Mt. Carmel Forest region of northern Israel, just south of Haifa, near the town of Zichron Ya’akov and Ein Hod artists community.
Who is Orde Wingate?
The Village is named after legendary British Major General Orde Charles Wingate, an ardent supporter of the Zionist cause and influential force in the formation of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). “Yemin Orde” literally means “in the memory of Orde.”

Village Way Educational Initiatives (VWEI)
What is the Village Way educational methodology?
The Village Way Educational Initiatives is an independent nonprofit organization designed to broaden the impact of the Yemin Orde education methodology, called the Village Way, to help Israel’s at-risk youth live a secure and productive life. Through the Derech Kfar Educational Institute, VWEI’s think tank, partner educational communities and their educators receive resources, training, interventions, financial support and a blueprint to better educate and reach their fragile students. In this way, hundreds more of Israel’s at-risk immigrant youth can achieve education success and have hope for a productive future. Today, VWEI has 26 partner educational communities in Israel. The goal is to have 56 partner communities by 2020, thereby transforming education for youth at risk in Israel.

Chaim Peri (left) is recognized as one of Israel’s leading experts on the education and rehabilitation of at-risk youth. He served as the visionary educator and director of the Yemin Orde Youth Village in Israel for 30 years, touching the lives of thousands of children, both immigrant and Israeli born.
