New chess champions at Yemin Orde Youth Village.

Yemin Orde Youth Village’s 2019 chess champions were announced after a competitive tournament that spanned over a two-week period.

The tournament was organized by Yemin Orde’s volunteer Grandpa (Saba), an informal educator and a 10th grade student and was open to all interested players.

The chess tournament provided opportunity for more students to learn the game of strategy, as well as reinforced the notion of friendly competition. A total of 10 students competed in the tournament; the final three players all received prizes.

The first place winner was awarded a beautiful carved wood chessboard and set. The second and third place winners both received a portable bluetooth speaker.
